CTHF 2010 National Championships

The CTHF recently received the signed hosting agreements for the next 2010 National Championship and is now confirming officially the names of the cities where these championships will take place.

First, the 21 years old and younger category will take place in the province of Quebec, in the city of Laval. The Senior Championship (22 year old and older) will take place in the province of Alberta, in the city of Edmonton.

We insist on the first deadline of these championships. The provinces have to confirm their participation by Friday, February 26th 2010.

The provinces will have to declare their intents to participate by category for the next 2010 championships. The provinces will have to submit the #1 form and making sure that they completed part A and B.

Provinces that won’t respect this deadline and all other deadlines will be fined fifty ($50) dollars per day.

We also remind you the age limit for the different categories for these championships:
21 years old and younger: athletes born in 1989 and younger

*Seniors: athletes of 22 years old and older

(* an athlete of 21 years old and younger may participate in the category 22 years old and older)

Senior Men National Team

The Canadian Senior Men National Team will travel to the city of Toulouse, France from March 31st to April 7th for a training camp in preparation of the next Pan-AM Championship that will take place in the city of Santiago, Chili in June 2010.

The athletes list will be published in the next newsletter.



Under 21 National Championship

The Fédération Québécoise de Handball has submitted his organisational document for the first under 21 National Championship hosted by the city of Laval in next May.

CTHF Hall of Fame

The CTHF Management Committee decided to reinstate the nomination process for handball people who deserve to be in the CTHF Hall of Fame.

Free Handball Videos

The CTHF Vice-President of the trainers, Mr Mohamed Benkreira gave us a tip for those who wish to see handball games. These videos are free and you click on the following link to watch them. www.ehftv.com. These games are European first division teams.


CTHF Senior Men National Team Coach Change

The Senior Men team coach, Mr Stefan Rusimov, submitted his resignation letter as head coach of the Senior Men National Team for professional and family reason. The CTHF management committee wishes to thank Stefan for the hard work he shown while coaching the team and wishes him the best.

Mr Jean-François Grimala will take over and will be the Head Coach for the next Pan-AM Championship.

The CTHF congratulates Mr Grimala and wishes him good luck for the next Pan-AM Championships.



Senior Women's Camps
The Senior Women’s National Team program is holding player identification camps out East and West. These camps represent the beginning of the training cycle for the Pan Am Championships and the 2011 Pan Am Games. Players of current junior age are strongly encouraged to attend these camps due to their importance and future implications.

Coalition forms to rally for team sports in Canada
The large majority of Canadians who participate in sport do so as part of a team. Yet only 17 per cent of the government's core athletic funding goes to team sport organizations.

United in concern for the future of their sports, nineteen national sport-governing bodies have joined forces to raise awareness of the importance of team sport.

2010 Senior Canadian Championships (Over 21 Years Old) Information

The 2010 Senior Canadian Championships will take place in the city of Edmonton, Alberta from May 20th to May 24th 2010. The LOC has already advised us of the competition site and the hotel for the participating teams.
